Elena stared at the blank screen of her laptop, the cursor frozen mid-sentence on an unfinished email to her husband. Mark was away on another business trip, leaving her alone in their suburban home with nothing but the hum of the refrigerator and her own restless thoughts for company. She picked up the phone and called the local computer repair service, her voice steady even as her pulse quickened at the thought of a stranger in her house.

Jake arrived an hour later, toolbox in hand and a quiet confidence in his step. He was younger than she expected, with strong forearms visible beneath rolled sleeves and eyes that lingered a moment too long on her face. Elena led him to the kitchen table where her laptop sat, explaining the crash in clipped sentences while he nodded and began to work.

As he typed commands and ran diagnostics, Elena found herself watching the way his fingers moved across the keys. She excused herself to the living room, settling on the couch with a book she couldn't focus on. Her hand drifted lower almost without thought, slipping beneath the waistband of her jeans as she imagined those same fingers on her skin instead of the keyboard.

Her breath caught as she touched herself, circling slowly at first, then with growing urgency. The house felt too quiet, every small sound amplified, yet the risk of Jake walking in only sharpened the edge of her pleasure. She bit her lip to stay silent, hips shifting against her own hand until release washed over her in a quiet, trembling wave.

Jake called her name softly from the kitchen. When she returned, he stood with the laptop closed, a small smile playing at his mouth. "Fixed," he said. "But the power supply was shot. I can come back tomorrow with a replacement if you want it done right." Elena agreed before she could second-guess herself. The next afternoon he returned, and this time the air between them felt charged. She offered him coffee, their fingers brushing when she handed him the mug. Conversation turned personal as he worked, and she found herself admitting how lonely the house felt with Mark gone so often.

Jake set the tools aside and stepped closer. "You don't have to be lonely," he said, voice low. Elena's answer was to rise on her toes and kiss him, the contact sparking heat that raced down her spine. His hands settled on her waist, then lower, and soon they were moving together toward the bedroom.

Clothes came off in impatient layers until she lay back on the sheets, bare and breathing hard. Jake knelt between her thighs and lowered his mouth to her, his touch sending waves of pleasure through her body. She arched and gasped his name as he brought her to the edge, her fingers twisting in his hair as the first orgasm broke over her.

She reached for him then, guiding him upward. He joined his body to hers with careful pressure, and they moved together in a steady rhythm, the afternoon light slanting across the bed while Elena clutched his shoulders and whispered how good it felt to be touched like this again.

Later, when the first round left them slick with sweat, Jake rolled her onto her stomach and prepared her gently. The new intimacy was intense, sending fresh sparks through her nerves. She pressed back against him, breathing his name as the second climax built from deeper places than before.

The phone rang on the nightstand. Mark's name glowed on the screen. Elena reached for it on instinct, but Jake's hand covered hers, stilling the motion without force. "Answer it," he murmured against her ear, "or don't. Your choice." She let the call go to voicemail, the decision settling inside her chest like a door closing.

When they finished, tangled and breathing hard, Elena turned to face him. "I can't keep pretending this is nothing," she said. Jake nodded, brushing damp hair from her forehead. "Then don't." She reached for her phone again, this time to type a short message to Mark that the marriage was over, her thumb steady as she hit send. Jake stayed beside her, one arm around her waist, as the afternoon stretched into evening and the weight of the choice became real and irreversible.
