Gao Yuan Answers the "Other Woman" Label 20 Years On: "So Where Was I Wrong?"

Photographer Gao Yuan, ex-wife of rock musician Dou Wei, has addressed for the first time the long-running claim that she broke up Dou Wei's marriage to singer Faye Wong. In an interview on the program *Zi Hua Xiang*, she said the marriage was already in trouble before she came along, and when asked whether she still felt she wasn't wrong, she replied: "No. So where was I wrong?" She called it "fate."

She also said the 1999 media encounter many remember was not a press conference she called: Dou Wei asked her to face reporters on the spot after a supermarket trip. Per the reports' timeline, she met Dou Wei in 1994, he married Faye Wong in 1996, publicly called Gao his partner in 1999 before divorcing Wong that year, then married Gao in 2002 and divorced in 2004. Many commenters still dispute her account. Neither Faye Wong nor Dou Wei has responded.
