### Chapter 1: Chapter-1
A year later, the Full Moon Festival came around again. Conrad invited me home to have dinner with his parents. As the car passed through the main gate, I saw Oliver kneeling outside. He'd lost a lot of weight.Since that day, he'd refused food and water and stayed outside, begging me to see him and forgive him.He kept going until he'd exhausted his wolf's healing power and his body finally gave out.His family came and took him away for treatment. But every time he woke up after treatment, he slipped out again and returned to the main gate to keep waiting. He said he'd spend the rest of his life repenting and begging for my forgiveness. After this happened again and again, his family finally gave up on him.Conrad noticed me watching Oliver outside."Do you want to stop and go see him?"I looked away and shook my head."No."The car soon arrived at Conrad's house. As soon as we arrived, his mother came out to greet us with a big smile."Daphne, you must be tired from the drive. When Oliver saw me, he hurried toward me.But then he noticed Miranda watching him with red eyes, and he stopped.Mom lunged for me, but I dodged her.Benjamin quickly caught Mom as she stumbled."Daphne, is this how you treat your mother?"Dad jabbed a finger in my face."How did I ever raise such a cold-blooded daughter?"I could smell the anger coming off them. They couldn't understand how their daughter, a low-ranking Omega who had always been meek and obedient, had suddenly become so defiant. In their eyes, a low-ranking Omega like me had humiliated noble Betas like them in front of a crowd.I steadied my restless wolf and addressed the students calmly."My parents took the money they'd saved for my tuition and, without telling me, handed it to their favorite child, my younger sister, as spending money. They expected me to get a job and pay my own tuition."When they say my sister gave me the bags and dresses she loved, they don't mention that I had to give her my only room in exc
(Daphne's POV)I was truly happy during my first three months in the Blackwood Pack.No one here looked down on me for being a low-ranking Omega wolf.Just the opposite. They thought I was amazing for getting an A+ in every class.Conrad, the future Alpha and an upperclassman, often came to see me and show me around campus. When he learned I needed money for living expenses, he helped me find work-study jobs.I hadn't felt this happy or relaxed in years. One evening, I'd just gotten back to my dorm when my roommate suddenly grabbed my arm."Daphne, some people are making a scene at the main gate. I think they're your parents."She showed me a video. The people in it really were my family. My mom was holding up a poster with a single word written in huge letters: UNGRATEFUL.She stood at the gate, shouting."Daphne, we raised you all these years, and the minute you got into a top university, you blocked us."What did we ever do to you? Didn't we always do our best to give you whatever y
Mom and Dad both froze. Benjamin and Oliver exchanged a look, their eyes full of shock. How could the name be Daphne Hope? Shouldn't it be Miranda Hope?Mom shot to her feet."Alpha, you must have read it wrong. My younger daughter's name is Miranda Hope."How could it be my older daughter's name? She's just a low-ranking Omega wolf. There's no way it's her!"Marcus's expression darkened."Are you questioning me? That's the name printed in the bulletin."He turned the bulletin toward the crowd."There's a photo too. The name and the photo can't both be wrong."Everyone crowded around, comparing the photo in the bulletin to Miranda on stage."That's not her in the photo at all.""I've seen her sister. That's exactly what she looks like.""Her sister's grades are that good, and they just stood up there tearing her down in front of everyone.""That whole family is unbelievably biased. The older sister must have been miserable at home."The murmurs around them grew louder. As the crowd sta
When I landed at Blackwood Airport, it had started to rain.I was about to make a run for it when someone held an umbrella over me.I looked up and found a strikingly handsome man holding it."Hi. I'm Conrad Hale, the future Alpha of the Blackwood Pack."He smiled."You must be Daphne. Welcome to Blackwood University. I'm an upperclassman there, and I came to pick you up."His car was right outside. He opened the car door for me and went to help with my suitcase, only to find I had nothing but a backpack. He must have found that strange, but he didn't say anything.During the drive, I barely spoke except to thank him. He smiled and tried to draw me into conversation. "Tonight's the Full Moon Festival. Why didn't you have dinner with your family before coming to school? You still would've made it in time."My face fell."They'll probably be happier without me around."Shock flashed across his face, followed almost at once by regret. He knew he had said the wrong thing."Sorry."I smiled
The Full Moon Festival fell the day before school started. It was the most sacred celebration of the year for werewolf packs, a night when families gathered together. To mark the occasion, the pack threw our family a college send-off party. The house was full of gift boxes from people in the pack. They were all for Miranda. None of them were for me.Miranda was twirling in front of the mirror in a pearl-white gown.Mom stood beside her, helping her choose a matching bag, while Oliver straightened her skirt. The dress Miranda wore and the bag she carried were the ones she'd promised to give me in exchange for my room.Even the tiara on her head should have been mine."Didn't you say you were giving all these to me in exchange?" I asked, looking at what was left of my bedroom after they'd knocked down the wall. I couldn't hide my resentment.Mom didn't even turn around."She's your sister. What's the harm in letting her borrow them for a while? Why are you being so petty?"Besides, you n
