### Chapter 1: The Night The Moon Broke
--- ๐ The True Luna: Reborn Chapter One "The Night the Moon Broke" (Arielle's POV) The scent of lavender drifted through my room as the soft light of dawn painted the walls pale gold. I blinked awake slowly, curling into myself for a moment, not quite ready to face the day. Something felt... off. Or maybe not off โ just different. I sat up and stretched, my curls tumbling down my shoulders. A soft ache lingered in my chest, but I couldn't place why. As I stood, my gaze landed on the photo on my dresser โ Mama's warm brown eyes smiled back at me through the frame. She looked so alive in that picture, like she might step out of it at any moment. I pressed two fingers to the glass. "Morning, Mama." Sliding my sketchbook aside, I slipped into my hoodie and padded barefoot downstairs. The kitchen smelled like black coffee and fried eggs โ my dad's usual morning routine. He stood at the stove, wearing that faded gray sweater he always did when the mornings were cold. His back was straight, movements quiet, almost meditative. "Morning, Dad," I said as I grabbed a glass of water. "You're up early," he replied, glancing at me with a small smile. "Something on your mind?" I hesitated, then shrugged. "Just... thinking I'll go for a walk later. Clear my head." His hand paused over the frying pan. "Arielle," he said carefully, "be careful, okay?" I blinked. "Why?" He turned to face me, his expression serious now. "Andre Moore arrived last night. The elders are putting him through final training. You know what he's like." I stiffened. "He doesn't like humans... or hybrids. And especially not..." He didn't finish. He didn't need to. Especially not me โ the girl with no wolf. "I'll stay out of his way," I said quickly. Dad gave a slow nod but didn't press further. I was grateful for that. --- Later That Evening The forest was quiet โ peaceful in the way I needed it to be. The trees didn't ask questions. The wind didn't care that I hadn't shifted. The moon, even half-hidden behind clouds, still felt like home. I walked toward the river bend, breathing in the cool pine air. And that's when I saw him. Tall. Broad-shouldered. Golden-blonde hair catching the last streaks of sunlight. His green eyes glinted as he stood by the water, looking like he belonged to some ancient painting. Andre Moore. The future Alpha. And completely out of place. "You're not lost, are you?" I called, arms folded. He turned slowly, eyes locking on mine. My breath hitched. Then he smiled. Confident. Relaxed. "I'm Andre. And you must be Arielle Moon." I blinked. "The Andre? The future Alpha?" "The one and only," he said. I narrowed my eyes. "How do you know my name?" He smirked. "Perks of being the future Alpha. I make it my business to know everyone in the pack." We talked. To my surprise... he wasn't awful. He asked about my art. Listened when I spoke. His eyes softened when I laughed. For the first time in a long time, I didn't feel like the broken girl without a wolf. Then everything changed. "You're my mate," he said suddenly, voice hushed โ almost reverent. I froze. "What?" "I felt it," he whispered. "The moment I saw you. The bond... it's real." Tears stung my eyes. I hadn't shifted. No wolf. No mark. And yet... the goddess had still chosen me? I looked up at the moon, hope swelling in my chest. Until his expression twisted. "I can't do this," he muttered, stepping back. I blinked. "What?" "You're half-human. You don't even have a wolf. How could the goddess pair me with you?" My stomach dropped. "Andre, pleaseโ" He snapped, "You're not worthy of being my mate." I stumbled a step back. > "Arielle Moon of the Blood Moon Pack," he said, voice tightening, "I reject you as my mate." The words shattered something inside me. I stared at him in disbelief โ at the man I thought might be different. "I... I don't understand," I whispered. "You're nineteen. Still wolfless. You're incomplete." "So you think I'm broken?" He looked away. "This isn't personal." But it was. It was everything. Then his power flared โ his aura slamming into me like a wall of fire. My knees buckled. The command in his voice rang like a bell in my bones. > "I, Andre Moore, Future Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, reject you, Arielle Moon, as my mate and Luna of this pack." Pain seared through me โ sharp and soul-deep. My body trembled under the weight of his Alpha tone. > "Accept it," he growled. "I command you... as your future Alpha." I gasped. He wasn't just rejecting me. He was forcing me to accept it. I'd believed the mate bond was sacred โ forged by the Moon Goddess herself. Now it was being broken by pride and cruelty. My throat burned. My heart screamed. But the Alpha tone coiled around me like barbed wire. I couldn't fight it. I met his gaze, voice cracking as I spoke the words he demanded. > "I... I, Arielle Moon... daughter of Noah Moon... accept your rejection." Tears fell, but I kept my chin lifted. > "And I reject you, Andre Moore, as my mate." The bond snapped. The silence that followed was worse than any scream. He turned his back on me, already walking away. And I stood there, in the darkening woods, shaking โ not just with pain, but with the promise that I would never let anyone break me again. --- The Next Morning The envelope waited on my nightstand like a lifeline. My hands shook as I opened it. > Dear Miss Moon, We are pleased to offer you full admission to the New York College of the Arts, following your outstanding portfolio and scholarship application... I couldn't breathe. I did it. I didn't need a wolf. I didn't need a mate. I was going to New York. --- Dad was in the kitchen, sipping tea when I walked in. His eyes flicked up, already reading my expression. "I got in," I said, smiling โ really smiling. "To the art college?" I nodded, holding the letter to my chest. He set his cup down and walked over to pull me into a warm, quiet hug. "I'm proud of you, Arielle. You've earned this." "I want to leave today," I whispered. "Is that okay?" He nodded. He didn't ask why. He didn't mention Andre. Maybe he knew not to ask. Or maybe he just trusted me. --- That Evening Chase helped me pack. Lina waited with baby Kiara on her hip. "You sure you're ready?" he asked, shoving my suitcase into the trunk. "No," I whispered, "but I'm going anyway." He hugged me tight. "You're gonna crush it out there." I kissed Kiara's cheek, and she squealed, tiny hands pulling my curls. Lina smiled and handed me a bag of snacks and a small sketchbook. "For when your heart needs a place to land," she said gently. Finally, Dad walked over and placed a silver pendant in my palm โ a delicate crescent moon. "It was your mother's," he said. "She wore it the day you were born." I held it tight, tears stinging my eyes. "Thank you." He hugged me one last time. "You're stronger than you know." --- As the car pulled away from the only home I'd ever known, I stared out the window, wind in my hair and heart in pieces. But somewhere beneath the pain... was fire. > I will bury the past. I will become someone new. And no one โ not even fate โ will break me again. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi there, lovely readers! ๐โจ My name is Raven Lee, but I go by Raven-l as a writer here. ### Chapter 2: Canvas, Coffee and Ghost
--- ๐ The True Luna: Reborn Chapter Two "Canvas, Coffee, and Ghosts" Arielle's POV Three years later The sun peeked through the blinds like it had a personal grudge against me. I groaned and rolled over, wrapping myself tighter in the blanket. Then the sound came. WHEEEEEEEEEEEE! "ZOEY!" I yelled, launching a pillow across the room. "I swear I'm gonna shave your head one of these nights!" A laugh echoed from the bathroom, over Beyoncรฉ's vocals. "You wouldn't dare touch the crown, Ari!" "I will crown you bald!" I muttered, dragging myself out of bed. Zoey Black was already halfway through her morning glam routine, standing at the mirror with a mascara wand in one hand, her pink hair up in a messy bun. She was tall โ like, painfully tall next to me โ 5'7 and all legs, thanks to her Alpha bloodline. I always teased that she should join the basketball team instead of the fashion department. "You're just mad because you can't reach the top shelf in the kitchen," she called. "Rude. And accurate." We got dressed while joking about how the corner cafรฉ's coffee tasted like it had been filtered through someone's nightmares. "You better not make me late," she said, yanking on her boots. "Breakfast burritos before class. Non-negotiable." --- The campus of the New York College of the Arts buzzed with life. Students were everywhere โ sketchbooks, camera gear, oversized headphones, and the smell of caffeine in the air. Zoey tossed me a sideways glance. "You painting in the Tower today?" "Yeah. You sewing in the Dungeon?" "Obviously." "If the world ends, we meet in the quad." "Deal." We high-fived like we were sealing a pact, then split up. --- The Tower studio was my safe space. High ceilings. Dusty sunlight. The scent of paint and ambition. My world. I stood in front of the canvas, staring at the prompt written in chalk: > "Paint someone important in your life. Someone who shaped you. Let the emotion lead your brush." Easy, right? Except not. My mind spun. My mom. My dad. My brother Chase. Even his mate Lina and their baby Kiara. And... him. Andre. My hand clenched around the brush. No. Not today. I started sketching my mother's smile instead. Her warmth. Her calm eyes. The feel of her hand on my forehead when I had fevers as a child. Every stroke was like tracing a ghost. --- After class, I stood at the front gate, waiting for Zoey. The late afternoon light turned the city gold. It was that rare moment when New York actually looked peaceful. My phone buzzed. Dad <3 Calling... I smiled and picked up. "Hey, Papa." "You sound tired," he said in his deep, familiar voice. "Studio day. You know how it is. What's up?" "Well... there's news from blood moon pack. The alpha ceremony is in three months. They're introducing Andre's new mate." My entire body went still. "Oh," I said, keeping my tone neutral. "Yeah, the pack is buzzing. Feels like a fairytale or something. Just... wish you were here to see it." I nodded even though he couldn't see. "Maybe someday." He didn't know. I'd never told him what Andre did. That the fairytale wasn't mine anymore. Zoey appeared then, wearing a burgundy coat and that "I need food now or I will die" look. "Let's go eat like we just survived the apocalypse," she said. "You mean like you didn't scarf down three croissants in class?" "Those were appetizers." --- Uncle Ben's diner was like a warm hug. Cozy booths, vintage posters, and mashed potatoes that could make a grown man cry. "Girls!" Uncle Ben boomed, waving a ladle. "You're late. I almost ate your pie!" "You do and I riot!" Zoey declared, throwing herself into our usual booth. We caught up on campus drama โ Zoey's latest failed attempt to flirt with the sculpture professor and how my painting professor definitely had a thing for espresso and emotional breakdowns. By the time we left, we were laughing like lunatics. That's when it happened. The bell jingled above the diner door as we stepped out. I was still laughing when I hit him. Or rather โ slammed into a chest so solid, I thought I'd bounced off a building. My palms pressed against firm muscle and soft black fabric. Then โ scent. Not Andre. This was frost, black cedar, and something wild. It wrapped around me like silk dipped in thunder. My wolf โย Lyra , who I had two years back โ stirred. Mate. The word echoed in my soul like a drumbeat. I looked up. Grey eyes. Sharp. Cold. Beautiful. The man was tall โ taller than Zoey around 6'3, but darker, older. Dangerous. His gaze snapped to mine like he felt it too. His lips parted slightly. "You..." he whispered. I backed away fast. "Iโ I have to go," I said, heart racing. And then I ran. I don't know why. Maybe because I wasn't ready. Maybe because I knew exactly what finding a mate could cost me. He didn't chase me. But I felt his eyes burning into my back as I disappeared into the crowd. Zoey blinked, stunned. "Uh... who the hell was that guy? And why did I feel like I just watched the start of a supernatural Netflix drama?" I didn't answer. Because my heart was still screaming one word: Mate. And my soul... had finally stirred. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What do you think just happened at the end there? ๐ Who do you think the mysterious man Arielle ran into really is?
