Section 1

[Fact-check · Celebrity] "Megan Fox" hit No. 1 on Google Trends in the US this week. The reason was a post that, it turns out, Machine Gun Kelly never wrote.

What went viral According to People, Billboard and E! News, an X post shared on October 12 combined recent photos of Fox, an older picture of the former couple and what looked like a screenshot of a tweet from MGK. In the "tweet," he supposedly said that seeing her new photos made him want to throw his phone at a wall, and that he would "never forgive" himself for "fumbling the girl of your dreams."

What MGK said The rapper, whose real name is Colson Baker, replied on X that the tweet was fake. His wording was blunt, and outlets quoted it widely. E! and Us Weekly date the reply to October 13. Billboard gives October 12.

What the Community Note said A Community Note on the original post, quoted by VICE and Billboard, said the image "fabricates an X post from @machinegunkelly regretting losing Megan Fox" and that no such post exists on his verified account. According to VICE, the note added that the pair split before their daughter was born in March 2025 and now co-parent, and that his real comments on her photos have been lighthearted.

Not the first time E! notes that MGK has corrected the record before. In January he dismissed speculation that the two were rekindling their romance, calling "mainstream gossip media" corny in an Instagram Story.

Relationship timeline, from reports - Earlier: The pair dated publicly and got engaged. Outlets now describe Fox as his ex-fiancée. - 2024: They split, as E! describes it. - March 2025: Their daughter was born, about three months after the split, according to Billboard. - 2026: Reports say they co-parent. MGK has twice shot down rumors about their relationship this year.

How to spot a fake celebrity tweet - Search the account directly. If the post isn't on the verified profile, be suspicious. - Check for a Community Note, and see whether major outlets have confirmed the post. - Be wary of screenshots without a link. They're easy to fabricate. - Watch for emotional, quotable lines bundled with photos that tend to go viral. That combination is built for engagement.

The bottom line The "fumbling" post is fake by MGK's own account and according to X's Community Note. Anything built on it, including reaction videos and "he still loves her" threads, rests on a fabrication. We'll keep debunking viral celebrity quotes in our fake-quotes tag.
