## Chapter 1: Iori’s Fishing Diary

Reposted from Youko ようこ @ Light Kingdom. “All right, I’ve decided!” Iori, who had been lost in a magazine, suddenly stood up and announced it at the top of his voice. “Tomorrow, let’s all go fishing!” He paid no attention to the teacher’s look of disgust. He had stared at the magazine all day, and the conclusion he reached was exactly what everyone had already guessed. Haruki was getting ready to go home. Pretending he hadn’t heard a word Iori said, he hurried out of his seat… Got you! “Gah!” But it was already too late. He had taken only a few steps from his seat when Iori seized him by the shoulder from behind. “Hey, Chitose, let’s go sea fishing tomorrow. Sea fishing is amazing! You get to experience the romance of the ocean and the romance of fishing at the same time. It’s the very definition of a man’s hobby!!” Still gripping Haruki, Iori shoved the open magazine in front of his face. On the page was a photo of a middle-aged angler beaming as he showed off a huge fish he had just landed. Kotaro, who had only just stepped into the classroom, took one look at Haruki and Iori and retreated through the door without a word. Haruki did not miss it. “For the next few days the seawall along the coast of the neighboring town is perfect for coarse-scaled black sea bream. Chances like this don’t come around often! If we don’t go fishing tomorrow, where else are we supposed to go!?” Iori kept ramming the magazine into Haruki’s face, as if he meant to take a rubbing of it. Haruki shoved back with all his strength. “If you keep pushing it at me like that, how am I supposed to see anything!” “You don’t even have to look at the magazine! The coarse-scaled black sea bream aren’t in the magazine. They’re in the sea!” “Then why do you keep shoving it at me!” “What?” “Oooh! ## Chapter 2: A Record of Buying Coffee Cups
Clink! “Huh?” It happened just as Haruki was about to drink his coffee. The weight in his right hand suddenly lightened, and the warm steam rushing toward his face vanished all at once. He rolled his eyes to look and found the handle of the coffee cup had cracked. Hot coffee went down with the cup and landed on his lap… “Wah, that’s hot!” Clang! “Haru!?” The coffee spilled across the lap of Haruki, who was sitting at the counter. Then the cup hit the floor and ended its short life. “Nn!” Haruki stood up and put his hands on his belt buckle, ready to get his trousers off at once. Then he caught Yamabuki Wataru at the edge of his vision and froze. “Hot hot hot hot hot!” The coffee that had soaked into his jeans would take a while to cool. He could probably endure it, but a burn was far too high a price. “Haru, what are you doing! Get those pants off!!” “B-but…!” “If you keep dawdling, you’re going to get burned!” “W-wait, Wataru-nee!!” Wataru undid his belt and yanked his trousers down by force… “Waaaaah!” Once she had them down to his knees, she hauled upward with all her strength! Haruki went over backward, all four limbs in the air. Without mercy she stripped off his trousers and held them high above her head. “Don’t get hung up on the brand. As long as it fits the mood of the shop, any cup will do. It’s just that a cup is going to be smashed someday… no, it’s going to break. ## Chapter 3: The Heartbreaking Grand Operation to Take Back Haruki’s Memories
A headache. To be precise, there were two kinds of pain: the pain of a heavy blow to the back of the head, and an unbearable ache radiating from inside the skull. That unpleasant, metallic, piercing sound was probably tinnitus. “Haruki! Art thou awake?” “Onii-chan!?” Ugh… the voices reached him the way sound does when water is in your ears, with a strange resonance that only made the headache worse. His drifting consciousness snapped awake for an instant. Huh? Was I just asleep…? “Nn…” He opened his eyes. Soft light urged him to wake. “Haruki!” “Onii-chan!” Ugh… a sharp noise rang in his ears. “Sorry. My ears are ringing really badly right now. Could you not talk so loud…?” Three girls surrounded him. One wore an ornate hair ornament that looked very heavy. One had white cat ears. One had a black ribbon tied in her hair. He seemed to be lying on a bed. Above him was an unfamiliar ceiling. He looked around. The room itself was familiar. “Uh…” Huh? He wanted to say something to them, but he stopped. “Ah…” “This is so annoying! Uh…” The girl with the hair ornament nodded as if she understood. “I see. The head has forgotten, but the body still remembers this relationship.” “W-wha…” No, where is this place… The words he wanted to say stuck in his throat… He yanked hard! Why are they calling me that? “Haruki?” “Yeah, Onii-chan. You’ve been acting strange this whole time.” When they heard his answer, all of them hung their heads. He felt bad for disappointing them, but he was telling the truth. There was nothing he could do about it. “Ah, I’m sorry. You don’t know anything, and I just…”
## Tenshin Ranman — Staff Interview!
〈Respondents〉 Director: Senro Script: Amamiya Ritsu Original artists: Muririn • Kobuichi Q1. Could each of you start by talking about how the project for *Tenshin Ranman* came about? Senro: The earliest planning meeting was in February 2008, I think. Amamiya: There were several proposals inside the company. After we talked them over, we chose eUU’s proposal, and Tenshin Ranman grew out of that. Muri: At the start, nobody was trying to make the kind of work where you play through it once and just think, “That’s so moe.” Kobu: Once the direction was set, it was hard to move forward for a long time. Senro: Planning meetings always run long, but we talked about Tenshin Ranman for two whole days. (laughs) Q2. What would you say is the selling point of *Tenshin Ranman*? Muri: The characters? Amamiya: It should be the cute characters. I think it’s that they look cute, their voices are cute, and they have charm. Kobu: The parts that are gorgeous in both color and design. Also, this time we asked Shichibokuhiki the mass-production model to draw the SD key art, which is why we could get cuter, funnier direction. Senro: In Tenshin Ranman we wanted to emphasize the cute and the comedy, so asking Shichibokuhiki to draw was absolutely the right choice! Kobu: Personally, I like Mahiro’s shifty-eyed SD. What was the concept behind the character designs? Muri: Ask Amamiya and Senro. Senro: Mom! Teacher eUU isn’t answering seriously—! Amamiya: If I had to put it in one line, it would be “gods who are like people,” and “foxes who don’t grow close to people…”
