Taiwanese singer Chang Hsiu-ching says she divorced 3 years ago and is owed NT$34M

[Gossip / celebrity breakups] "張秀卿" (Chang Hsiu-ching) jumped to 1000+ searches on Google Trends Taiwan tonight. This recap sticks to her own Oct 16 statement as reported by TVBS and China Times.

What she said: the veteran Taiwanese Hokkien singer said she and her husband Wang Kuo-tsan, 12 years younger and married to her in 2014, quietly finalized a divorce three years ago because their values and life plans had drifted apart.

Why they still lived together: she says she let him stay out of kindness, that since then they have been 'roommates' who saw each other about 30-odd days a year, and that he never responded when she asked him to move out. She kept the divorce private because she 'only wanted to bring people joy' as an entertainer.

The NT$34 million: she says that in September she took out a NT$28 million bank loan in her own name and lent him NT$6 million in cash, keeps the receipts, and has not received her 2025 and 2026 concert fees. She asked him to face and settle his debts. These are her claims; the reports carry no response from him.

Why it surprised fans: a week earlier she was still talking about him supporting her concert, and the two appeared together at last week's celebration.
